With 29 estates and more than 600 hectares of vineyards spread across the three sub-regions of the Douro, Mateus & Sequeira Vinhos possesses an absolutely unique viticultural diversity. No other producer in the Douro combines such a breadth of terroirs, grape varieties, and exposures, granting it a rare winemaking capacity: to craft profoundly distinctive wines that reflect the many faces and personalities of the region. Each wine is the result of the creative freedom that only this diversity allows — authentic products, with their own identity, designed for different moments, markets, and consumers.
Manuel Costa & Filhos was founded in 1989 by Manuel Costa, focused on the trade of
bulk wine from the Vinho Verde region, result of the passion for wine and accumulated knowledge.
The ‘bottling’ of the first bottle gives rise to the pioneering brand: Minhadega, the first truly ́vinho verde ́ brand, and which launches the company for a new stage of new challenges, a phase of adaptation and growth.
Acceptance and recognition of the quality of the wines increases the production and sales at local and regional level, consolidating the expansion of the portfolio and product range,
following the sustained growth of the company as we know it today, now in the hands of the second generation, Manuel's sons.
Currently, the 7000 square meter facilities of Manuel Costa & Filhos include the production unit, the winemaking technology, the laboratory and the warehouse. Technologically evolved, this location concentrates and supports the winemaking of more than 190 hectares of vineyards from the company's partner producers, distributed across the municipalities
of Resende, Cinfães, Amarante, Penafiel, Baião, Marco de Canavezes, Felgueiras, Vizela and Arcos de Valdevez.
This system and method of organizing work and production has allowed flexibility and versatility in searching for, and obtaining, products of consistent quality and style, year after year, supporting the image and positioning as a solid and trustworthy partner.
In 2010, the company began exporting its wines to Europe: a fundamental step for the company, aligned with the international recognition of the Vinho Verde Region. Today, in addition to Europe, the company exports to the four corners of the world and hopes to open new markets, investing every year in this aim - currently 30% of turnover it is already from exports.
The third generation is also promising, already beginning to take on the strategic direction for the next 25 years, aims to improve productivity, profitability and ensure the consequent longevity of the company.
In preparing for the future, Manuel Costa & Filhos is launching a new phase of updating and modernization, new policies, organization methods and management, in order to be able vto respond to uprising market requests and demands, and which will allow the launch of new product ranges, in reaction to competition and new trends.

Over the years, in order to fulfil the initial objectives of sustainability and quality, they felt the need to acquire and add plots of land that had been very well selected for this purpose.
It is with the perception and combination of the various vineyard terroirs, of different ages, different production of grapes, often of the same variety, but with different characteristics, that they seek to give the highest quality and expression to the wines they produce.
That's why the top of the range wines are only produced in special years.

VALLEGRE Vinhos do Porto, S.A., is a Portuguese company with a centuries-old tradition which has embraced the continuity of a family business for five generations - shareholders and managers represent the fifth generation of a family deeply rooted in the Douro region. Producer and exporter of high quality and prestigious Port Wine, DOP Douro and Moscatel wines, highlights not just the results of the expansion and modernization over the years, but also how the family-rooted ancient wisdom has been preserved. The head office is located at Quinta da Vista Alegre, in the heart of the oldest Demarcated Winegrowing Region in the world - the Demarcated Douro Region - in the “Cima Corgo” sub-region, just a few kilometers from Pinhão. The unspoilt and magnificent surrounding landscape, given its privileged geographical location, offers visitors breathtakingly views of the Douro River. Its points of interest are of outstanding natural beauty, in perfect harmony with nature, remaining etched in memory through a sharpened sense of sight - unique pleasures in the love of rurality, the scenery and nature itself. The Quinta's vineyards have a long-recognized history of producing wine, dating back to the 19th century. This is the conclusion drawn from books specialized in strain typologies and from some of the abandoned terraces, known as "mortórios". At the start of the 1970s, the company changed from a sole proprietorship into a limited liability company under the name - Sociedade Agrícola Barros S.A.. In May 1998, the company changed its name to VALLEGRE -Vinhos do Porto, S.A., resulting from the merging of the names of two of its most important Quintas – Valle Longo and Vista Alegre – but retaining its markedly family nature that spans five generations. Thus, VALLEGRE is a private, family-based, modern, entrepreneurial and dynamic company. Creativity, Innovation, respect for the environment, quality and Customer Satisfaction´s Principles are laid down in the Mission, Vision and Values of the Company. The production of DOC (Controlled/Protected Denomination of Origin) wines continues to be its primary aim: DOC Porto, DOC Douro and DOC Moscatel do Douro of the highest quality which are nationally and internationally renowned. Nowadays, the wines are sold and enjoyed in over thirty countries and the countless prizes and distinctions achieved in several international competitions prove the excellence of our quality.
