Cotnari vineyards: 2 simple words, but full of meaning, which carry the history of over 2000 years of a legendary land and the uninterrupted tradition of producing an authentic Romanian wine, synonymous with the excellence of winemaking craftsmanship. That is why the first international distinction was obtained in the times of Al. I. Cuza.
The Cotnari vineyard is especially famous for its traditional white varieties: Grasă de Cotnari, Tămâioasă Românească and Fetească Albă, joined by Busuioaca (vinified rose) and Feteasca Neagră, for the red varieties. This brings together the experience and history of Cotnari SA with the innovation and excellence of the House of Cotnari Wines. And when the heritage is linked to terroir, well-kept winemaking secrets and skill, the result can only be a perfect, quality Cotnari wine. The emblem of the House of Cotnari Wines captures the Vlădoianu Castle, built in 1901 by the nobleman Vlădoianu himself, former governor of the BNR and distinguished winegrower, as pure inspiration in the story of the wine.
The wine road is long but rewarding. In every bottle of wine you feel the heritage and gratitude for the fruit. Tradition blends perfectly with technology and knowledge born of passion. Quality grapes are the core of a premium wine. Cotnari's plantations follow a low plant density, a large distance between the rows, which allows for efficient air circulation and modern machinery. The Cotnari wine needs a quiet maturation in oak casks for up to 2 years. Then, it is bottled or kept in the wine cellar to delight future generations with its bouquet.
There is never a moment in a man's life when Cotnari wine is not by his side. It successfully accompanies the finest dishes, from main courses to dessert. It represents a surprising and always tasteful gift of the soul.
You don't drink Cotnari wine. You taste it. It is a divine promise. When it accompanies a long-lasting feast, drunk in moderation, it develops noble, astonishing reactions.
